Aromas of cigar, leather, and smoked meat fill the nose with hints of toasty oak, forest floorand baking spice. Well-structured tannins support big fruit flavors of blackberry jam, black spiced cherries, ground black pepper and just a hint of rhubarb.
Pairs well with grilled or smoked meats such as beef, pork and lamb, and dishes prepared with mild cheese or wild mushrooms.
Blackberries, black pepper and cloves on the nose, following through to a medium to full body, juicy fruit and a delicious finish of savory fruit. Umami at the end. Drink or hold.James Suckling April 2020
As with the other wines where I tasted two vintages, I prefer the 2018 Laborde Double Select Syrah to the 2017. I find more varietal character, more definition and better freshness here. There is juicy fruit and more polished tannins, a dry finish and clean flavors. The Wine Advocate October 2019
